SUN Bucks are Back!


What are SUN Bucks?

  • Through the Alabama SUN Bucks program, eligible school-age children will receive a one-time grocery benefit this summer. Families will receive a SUN Bucks card with the funds pre-loaded and ready to use for groceries.  

  • SUN Bucks (Summer EBT) provides $120 per school-aged child for summer groceries to families with children who receive SNAP, TANF, FDPIR, or Medicaid (under 185% federal poverty level)..


Who is eligible to receive SUN Bucks?

  • Children who receive SNAP, TANF, or certain Medicaid benefits, or are identified as foster, homeless, or migrant, will automatically receive the benefits.

  • Children must attend a school that participates in the National School Lunch or School Breakfast Program (NSLP/SBP).

  • Generally covers school-aged children to age 18.


What do I need to do to receive my SUN Bucks?

  • The card will be mailed to your home automatically if you are already in the system.

  • SUN Bucks cards will be mailed to the address on file with the school system. Parents / Guardians, to assure you receive your SUN Bucks verify your child’s mailing address is correct with the school system.
